  3. Yeah, so great because they always provide an array of knockdown rational positive proofs for atheism. Oh, wait. I guess it’s only vacuous emotive memes. My bad. Thought we’d left the school yard for a minute.

  5. Is god willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

  6. Anonymous:There is no way to prove a negative, so the “rational positive proofs” you talk about just shows that you don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s up to the God believer himself to come up with proof. And you can’t do that (look up Russell’s teapot).
AFF, you and me are all atheists btw, me and AFF just believe in one god less than you.

  8. I’m not a believer, just thinking logically….
You are assuming that God SHOULD prevent all evil.

IF god gave us freewill, then he allows us to mess up. ( if there is no chance of doing anything wrong, then do we really have freewill?) Fixing everything for us would be like helicopter parents who don’t let their kids learn from the negative consequences of their actions.

If there was no evil, his plan wouldn’t work. Isn’t the devil / evil supposed to tempt us, and then we try to pass the test and do the right thing? ( or sin a bit and jesus somehow made it so we can be forgiven?)

  9. oh, so you think it’s silly to believe in something you can’t prove?

IF one religion could show that they are the correct one, and have SOME evidence, I’ll get on board. We have no ark or any evidence, just a history of things like witch burning, the Spanish inquisition and gay conversion camps that look a lot like abuse.

  10. Anax, thank you for admitting that all atheists (who are extremely few in number since they can never convince anybody of their doofy position) are prima facie fideists. You are correct there.

  11. Atheists are the fastest growing group in the religious arena. This applies to all religions around the globe. The secular movement is on the move to the future.
All religious fanatism, fundamentalism and outcry we witness now is just a last rear up of religion realizing it’s losing its grip on power and money.
Your fantasies are just like your deity. Fantasy.

  12. You agnostics are cowards. If there is proof to a god you have to fight him. Because, as you stated yourself, he is unworthy.

  13. Giving people free will and then punishing them for it is evil in itself. The God of the bible commited multiple genocides, rape and blackmail. Look up how many people where killed by God in the Bible and how less were killed by Satan.
    Who’s the evil one?
Small hint: Satan killed just 10.

  14. “In Pew Research Center telephone surveys conducted in 2018 and 2019, 65% of American adults describe themselves as Christians when asked about their religion, down 12 percentage points over the past decade. Meanwhile, the religiously unaffiliated share of the population, consisting of people who describe their religious identity as atheist, agnostic or “nothing in particular,” now stands at 26%, up from 17% in 2009.”

  16. Foreseeable. When running out of arguments the common theist falls back on defamation, pitchforks and burning stakes.

  17. In contrast to what many of the faithed folk believe atheists are not satanists. Because no god = no satan.

  18. Oh, there is more than adequate rational fodder, you’re just too fideistic to hear it. For example, you’d have to refute every single one of the miracles documented in Keener’s massive two volume work on modern day embarrassments to Hume to maintain your mere wish. Or, alternatively, have a response to Penrose, Vilenkin et al. about cosmology. A temporally finite cosmos is, in an on average expanding cosmos, whether universal or “multi”versal (the weird and hollow hope of callow minds) absolutely required. Your magic popping one from nothing is absurd. So go ahead and hang onto your truly idiotic position—the planet will reject it as always.

  19. To clarify terms here: Fideism is the belief in the superiority of religion and faith over non-religion and reason. Best example right above, citing rediculous authors from fantasy universities. American religious colleges and universities have no value in the rest of the world. It’s an evangelical bubble you live in, no science. And the theories about a big bang have nothing to do with religion or faith. That’s math and physics.

  20. No, fideism is holding to some worldview out of sheer faith regardless of evidence or lack thereof. And you are a sheer fideist. It’s both sad and wholly comical.

  21. Religion is based on faith, not on evidence, and hence fedeism par excellence.

    7
    2
  22. Dead wrong yet again. My worldview is based on myriads of evidence—both on the positive side like the many hundreds of miracles noted by Keener and the negative side like Plantings’s deconstruction of logical evil. But not you. You’re a pure-faith fideist as you admitted that a negative cannot be proved. So go on believing in the vacuum, but don’t expect the planet to follow your weird tack.

  23. That’s not how the world works, Buddy. And not everyone calling himself a philosopher is right or wise.

  24. Though I do teach a bit of college philosophy, I’m not your subordinate in ANY way so attempt your little schoolyard “Buddy” Schtick with someone who is enough of an utter fool to share your fideism.

  25. Kids, one day you will get tired of this cleverness.
You will grow up, at least some of you will.

  26. Then they storm their parliament and threaten representatives.

  27. The vacuum is an interesting place, teeming with elementary particles magically popping in and out. But no evidence of your unicorn.
