  1. I’d really like to see the “dear mom” portion of the article

  2. How in the hell did this dumdum raise a kid who is heading to an Ivy League school? Couldn’t she look up “twerking” on-line and get an instant answer?

  3. I guess we will read this Dear Abby for every new stupid made-up term.

  4. Just look for it in Google, bitch.
Dpn´t send a letter to the NYTimes.

  5. LOL!! When I first heard the term from my 19 year old son, he googled it for me and when I saw what it was I nearly passed out from laughing!! If I tried to “Twerk” I would need hospital care for at least 5 months!! Twerking has to be one of, if not the number one, stupidest things I have ever seen. Just rediculous!

  6. “Dear Abby” isn’t based in the NY Times, it’s syndicated out of the Midwest.

  7. DEAR MOM: Don’t panic. “Tripping” and “getting high,” as you already know, refer to altered states of consciousness as the result of using drugs. “Catfishing” is something else. It’s pretending to be someone you aren’t, creating a false identity on social media, usually to pursue a deceptive online romance.

The “twerking” your son was referring to is a dance move recently made famous by Miley Cyrus — in which the dancer (usually female) gyrates in a provocative, semi-squatting position that involves thrusting hip movements.
