    Actually, $0.50 USD would be about $181 ZWD. Now, if we knew “fiddy cent’s” real worth it might come close to $4 B ZWD. But let’s not quibble over pennys.

    • If you go back six or seven years, to the height of the Zimbabwean hyperinflation, the (theoretical) exchange rate was actually worse than what you see in the picture. When the Zimbabwe government issued a 100 billion dollar note in 2008, its actual purchase power equalled around 10 US cents. So you would need 5 of those to equal $0.50. And the next year they issued a 100 TRILLION dollar bill, making Zimbabweans long for the days when a few billion dollars was enough to buy a loaf of bread. I thought most knew about that, and obviously eatliver did too.
