Europe vs. USA: Workers Going On Vacation

Vacation? What’s that? It seems like an urban legend for those who are from the good ol’ US of A. You know you’re in the USA when “paid time off” means getting to the office five minutes late because of traffic. But the real reason why we posted this picture is to see all you guys fight in the comments below. Please do.

I will be taking the summer off because I need a little suntan. I will be using one of my 3 paid vacation days to undergo an open heart surgery.

  2. Entitlement for paid time off from work is becoming an epidemic in America.
Shut your gobs, and get your whining arses back to work.

  4. Hahaha, “Freedom”.

  5. It takes me 4 months or less to earn what a dude doing the same thing as me in Europe does. So if I take unpaid time off will I be paying less than the euro bros?
The name of the game is: let’s play with basic math

  6. Europoors are so poor they think they can only have access to things if specifically provided by government (like mandatory paid timeoff)

  7. Haha, we take home more than you each month. Because we don’t have to pay fake US prices. You earn more? Sure, on paper. But you have to pay more to survive in the wilderness of that 3rd world country USA. We pay taxes for infrastructure, social security, healthcare AND still save money for fun. We don’t have to vegetate from paycheck to paycheck.

  8. 14% of Americans live in poverty compared with 5% in Germany or 6% in France. Average income is higher in USA but that doesn’t convey wealth distribution. For example, if Edgelord Musk walked into a bar the average income would be billions. The fact is that outside of the 1% the USA is poorer in every measure, but keep on coping.

  9. Sorry europoor, you don’t take more home. For starters Americans own most of their retirement, instead of relying on the younger generation to pay for it. Just the retirement alone (tax exempt money collected during the whole life) is more than what europoors are able to save. And that doesn’t include the actual savings.

  10. A quick web search shows:
According to various sources, the average salary for a Senior Software Engineer in France ranges from €42,066 to €60,842 per year, with an estimated total pay of €67,000 per year.

    Looooooooool.

  11. And then:
the most common salary range for Senior Software Engineers in the US is between $140k – $150k, with companies with 11-50 employees earning the most, and those with 201-500 employees earning the most, with an average of $149,409

    Damn. Europoors be pooring.

  12. And USA employees can save to retirement with tax free money (a regular savings account that can be withdrawn without penalty after 55yo).
And USA employees pay less % taxes in general, even with a more than doubles salary range πŸ˜€

  13. You must be talking about countries like Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, which have no minimum wage.
Also, isn’t it so quaint that so may people over ride bicycles, use trains, etc.? It’s because many of them could never afford to buy and own a car, so they don’t have much choice.

  14. So many % being thrown about. Where do you village idiots come up with your facts?
If you’re going to continue using β€œfacts” at least look up reliable sources, not just U-tube,
    or Fox News.

  15. People in Western and Northern Europe are happier, healthier, worry less, retire earlier, and take much more time off.

BUT WE MUST KEEP SCORE WITH THE DOLLARS! WE HAVE MORE DOLLARS! JUST LIKE IN THE VIDEO GAME ARCADE AMERICANS HAVE THE HIGHER SCORE!

  16. Is that why Finland has one of the highest rate of suicide in the west? Because they’re happy?
Oh I get it. You must be confused with those “happiness” metrics they advertise, that actuqlly measures the amount of socialist policies.
    Sorry europoor.

    9
  17. Finland doesn’t have the highest suicide rate, you idiot.

  18. Europoors earn less money but Americans can keep even less of their money. That’s why poverty is higher in the US and Europoors live much longer. Americans are slaves. They just don’t realize it.

  19. People are free to choose not to buy a car because they don’t need it. Public transport is excellent in Europe. In most cities you never need a car and/or won’t die on the bycicle. Europe’s structure is more dense than the US. Everything in the US is widespread and inefficient.

  20. ‘Mericans live in a fantasy and throw a tantrum if confronted with facts. Watch:
Suicide rate US: 16.1, Finland: 15.3.
    Boohoo.

  21. That moron doesn’t even know what a socialist is. Just spewing phrases around he heard on rightard podcasts.

  22. Wtf are you talking about..?πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ Those are not poor countrys. Chek tour fact’s…

  23. Are you really so stupid.?
Do you even know where Sweden or Norway is on the map, most of the American dont’ know and that is just lame how un educated you people are…

The are more poor people in murica than in Sweden, Norway or Denmark..

  24. Sorry to break your illusion, but there are more suicides in the US than in Finland.

  25. I take a vacation for four weeks in July-August, then three weeks sometime in the winter. All this while paid. Greetings nurse from Finland!

  26. These suicide numbers are much aligned in the U.S. There are many deaths attributed
to suicide that make no sense. Shooting one’s self in the back of the head twice?? Hanging one’s self with their hands tied behind their back?? Strangling your self using your own
hands?? Putting your self in a hockey equipment bag, then jumping out of a high rise building??
Many corner rulings need to be reexamined.

  27. That would make Americans even more murderous than they are currently believed to be …

  28. Sensing a common theme from the maga crowd
    Hate and blame.

    Hate the immigrants.
    Hate the Europeans.
    Hate the libs
    Hate the big cities.
    Hate the teachers
    Hate the gays
    Hate the trans
    Hate the libs
    Hate Biden
    Hate the poor
    Hate the ‘woke’.
    Hate the minorites.
    Hate the unions
Blame, blame blame, even when it makes no sense.

    #JudgeThyNeighbor

I preferred it when we just went with ” United we stand”. I’m still in. I like it better when I have unusual neighbors.

  29. Love your list, have you considered politics as a profession. Pay is good, perks
a plenty, graduated pension plan, paid office lackeys, clothing allowance, travel
allowance, meal allowance, automobile allowance, free tickets to most entertainment
venues, opportunity for advancement, extra pay for sitting on committees Downside, being around some people you would love to choke to death, electioneering every four years, trying to remember all the B.S you’ve been peddling.

  30. Someone needs to take his own advice.

  31. 1995, the Danish minimum wage was about USD 25/hr ( +/- exchange rate ) and it’s kept up with national productivity growth.

The company director had a car, which he needed for work. Everyone else used the excellent trains, the excellent buses ( which ran every 5-10 minutes, by the time of day ), and the dedicated highway net for their precision crafted Danish bicycles.

I loved it. You no doubt would drink yourself into a stupor every night, to escape the hellish reality of a good life for everyone.

  32. I think it’s an accurate summary, Uncle Sam. Well done.

  33. 98% of Americans don’t give a flying F&@! What other people think about them and their country. Why would we. Richest most powerful country in history. Go while about your own countries for once. No one here cares.

  34. That’s why everyone thinks you are stupid and arrogant. The richest country with poor people and starving children.

  35. Haha πŸ˜‚. We put illegals in $500 a night hotels. Even if what you were saying is true, which we both know it isn’t, what happens in our country is none of your business Maple Head. Again, whine about your own dictator lead country.

  36. Hint: This is an internet site. Internet, not Canadanet.
Hm, he won’t get it, I guess.

  37. We get it. We also know who runs the site and where it runs from. Maple Heads need to pay attention to their own countries failings and stop the American hate.

  38. Canada seems fine. The US looks more like a failed state.
Didived at the brink of a civil war provoked by conservative agitators. Racist and religious militias controlling parts of the country. Conservatives never understood democracy. They still crave for a strong leader and king under God. We saw in Germany in the 1930s how that ended. Or in Iran.
And the US would be bancrupt now if it wasn’t for their president Biden. An experienced politician. Definitely the better option in 2020. Still too soft towards the fascist, terrorist groups supported by the republican party. You have to burn them out or they’ll spread like cancer. Conservatism is a slow death for a country.
Sounds quite like a failed state.

  39. So the richest most powerful country in history is a failed state. Just mindless hate and more lies and propaganda Dude. Get some help.

  40. If it can’t pay its bills? Yeah! Imaginary riches.

  41. Im really upset about El Salvador and the way they are running THEIR country. I’ve never been there and don’t know their history or culture but I am somehow qualified to make snarky comments about the entire country because.. well.. I just am! Imagine being this narcissistic.

  42. There is a big asymmetry between what many Americans know about the outside world vs what many outsiders know about the US.

  43. Oh, you’ve been there. Pretty sure people there still remember the US military “trainers”.

  44. El Salvador is a wonderful country. I have always enjoyed my time there. Great place to work. Money flying around ripe for the picking.

  45. Ok, boomer

  46. in Europe people lives soooo badly, that I never met an american Doctor or Engineer (please consider that these are already good jobs, then!!) that, when tried the “european life” wanted to go back (even if getting a quite lower pay in Europe)

I am not German, but I ve seen how people live in Germany (and in U.S.A.)… dont get why some people would choose U.S.A.

  47. Why Europe and Canada are so screwed up.

  48. Finland is in the middle when it comes to European suicide rates according to Eurostat at 13 deaths per 100000 population per year. However, the idea that Finns are happy is a project by the left. Egalitarian does not mean happy.

  49. I live in mainland Europe. I would love to live in the USA near the coast but I wouldn’t do it while the health care system is so bad. What you need in USA is free health care for all and a dramatic reduction in obesity. I hope ozempic helps.
