20 Hilariously Honest Tweets About Getting Old

  1. You should try being 60. I remember when TVs were only in Black and White and only had two channels. If you wanted one of those super 60s telephones everyone was talking about you had to have one installed in your house and share the line with your neighbours because it was all new technology and they didn’t have enough WIRES to cope. It was called a party line. I now measure life in “years I may or may not have left” rather than “the future”.. and as for my knees…….

  2. This is a Fake Comment. In 1958 color tv was common, “Feelect…” was too young to use a phone, and phones were not new technology, and wires were plentiful. If commenter is feeling he/she is at the end of life, then roll over and be done with it. I (at 77) have many years left and look to the future with great expectation.

  3. I am 60 as well. I love the way you say it.

  4. I suppose it’s where you grew up. I’m 50 and was 12 when we got a color TV. I also know people who still had party lines into the 1990’s.

  5. I should explain that I was raised in council flats (projects) in London in the 1960s and we did not have colour TV or phones, or freezers (small refrigerators yes, but freezers? no) I saw my first colour TV when I was about 12 and we got a phone that we needed to share with our neighbours in 1967 (I was 10).

So – A Man. America was always many years ahead of Europe decades ago (not so much now) – so don’t assume I’m fake.

  6. Colour tv was not common in 1958. I saw my first colour set in 1975. At 77 you should have more manners than to proclaim someone else’s opinion as fake when in fact the introduction to colour tv was gradual across the planet, and like all new tech, the initial domain of the over-privileged.

  7. LOL you guys. I’m 30 and my mom got our color TV in 1998. We had BW TV all that time…
Try living in eastern europe and see how it goes… ;D
Though me and my brother managed to get money for Nintendo ripoff. We worked for that of course. We had to chop wood to earn taht money. I can relate to 80 year old people in USA ;|

  8. Back in the day all the street sign had bullet holes, Allis-Chalmers was the tractor to have, the 110 baud US-Robotics modem had just become available and there were only 2 genders.

  9. I am 64 and grew up watching B&W TV.
Did not own a car until I was 24 and a college graduate.

Now, the ‘poor’ have a big screen TV & a car.

  10. I’m so old I think the ringing in my ears was caused by the Big Bang.

  11. @Estaban: Don’t forget about the $600 smart phone with unlimited data for themselves and each of their children, then have to go on welfare because they can’t afford to feed their children.

  12. How correct you are. We didn’t have our first color set until the early 70’s, which is why I liked going to grandma’s. We also thought it was awesome when the PBS station came to town, as we now had a choice of four channels. It was in the mid 70’s when we switched from the party line to a private line. Luxury.

  13. I may not be older than dirt, but I can remember when it was still clean…..

  14. I would have laughed about it… when I was young… :-[

  15. I was born in 1958 and saw the my first coloured tv in 1972. The only telephone we had was shared by the whole street, it was called a telephone box. We rode our cycles or played football on the road because there were so few cars. And we rarely saw men walking about, they were at work or in bed because they were on nightshift. That was my childhood in the Rhondda Valley. Do I envy todays generation ? No I don’t, I think we’ve had the best of days.

  16. same here. i’m mid 30ties from eastern Europe & grew on BW TV & landline phone was available only in more wealthy neighbours.

  17. Wtf?! I’m from SE Europe, 40ys old and haven’t got a clue what you’re talking about.
When I was a kid and my parents told me they used to have a BW TV, I thought it had black and white colored housing.

  18. It’s a perfectly true comment.
    And colour has a U
