Taxidermy Animal Drones by Bart Jansen

There are many weird things on the internet, but a dead cat turned into a remote-control flying helicopter may be the strangest yet. The cat helicopter was conceived by Dutch artist (or so he likes to call himself) Bart Jansen. The first drone he created was Jansen’s own cat that was killed by a car in 2012, so Jansen “decided to pay tribute to his lost life by giving him a new one. An electronic one. It would allow him to continue partaking in his favorite activity: bird stalking.”

After the dead cat drone (cat copter), Bart Jensen proceeded to create an ostrich copter, “I thought it was really funny to make fly a bird that can’t fly,” he told people who tried to understand WHY. Geez, there’s that European humour for you.

Obviously, the next logic step was to create flying dead rat:

Finally, Bart Jansen turned a taxidermy shark into a SharkJet…

What’s your opinion? Is this art? Is this mental illness? Let us know in the comments!

  1. Odd. But ever so slightly entertaining.

  2. Tasteless. That’s not art but probably some kind of fetish.

  5. It’s like a really bad horror movie. I may have Nightmares from this….

  6. Sick and wrong. Disrespecting dead bodies is wrong, even with animals.
    🤢🤮

  7. Excellent. You should translate to english to share.

  8. Translation of Erik’s comment above, for those of us who don’t read or speak Dutch:

“Distasteful, and absolutely unnecessary. At first I thought it was another American stripped of decency (there are plenty of those around here) but was surprised to see that it turned out to be a Dutchman. I was always convinced that we were a bit more evolved over there. Well, I was pretty wrong.”

  9. Is this really any worse than allowing an animal’s body to decay on the side of the road, or be tossed into a landfill?

How is this a more disrespectful use of the empty vessels left behind when the animal’s or bird’s energy has been released from it by death, than is turning the animal’s hide into clothing or shoes, or making furniture dusters, clothing or hat decorations, and pillows from their feathers?

It’s not something I’d seek out for one of my pets, but if this is the means by which one wishes to preserve the memory of their pet, it is not for me to condemn them and it hurts no one.
