A Nation Taxing Itself Into Prosperity

Totally makes sense, right?

  1. A 100% tax rate and a stipend provided to the workers as their need dictates by the Prophet and the State is the only fair universal outcome for all.

  2. Do you comprehend what taxes are even?
If you put large sales tax on consumer goods and reduce the company tax, there will be many foreign investors willing to invest in the country, resulting in large influx of money into country, more goods and eventually bigger salaries, as the market becomes more competitive and filled with opportunity.

No tax system ever, except medieval and ancient that just took money from the citizens, would “tax itself into prosperity”. They would rather apply tax regime to allow either own citizens and companies or foreign investment to grow, depending on the country/location/history.

  5. Oh you americans, you don’t really get taxes. I live in a nordic country, here companies are almost glad to pay taxes, because taxes enable work force to be educated and healthy. It’s good for the economy. In USA idiots with money get the best education, and sick people die in poverty.

  6. Not after having to work two jobs at minimum wage.

Ever wondered why trump does not deport all illegal immigrants?
They would be replaced by people getting minimum wage. If you still can find any, and they are the rock bottom of the american workforce.

  7. Quarter Salami’s comments don’t have anything to do with communism. You do realize that, do you?

  8. Money is wothless if it doesn’t move from person to person. Taxes keep it busy. You know nothing about economy.

  9. Taxes force the money to go from workers to bureaucrats and their friends instead of staying with who worked for it and who provides the best services. It seems you missed a few economy classes.

  10. And then he said: companies companies are glad to pay taxes HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHSHSHSHSHSHSHHAHAHAHAHAHHA
This soul still didn’t get how Ireland became richer.

  11. Ahh… republican logic.

Want to live in a great country? Greatest on earth? Do you think greatness comes cheap?

Education and infrastructure are important and not cheap. WW3 and the space force wont be cheap either. Just to name a few. We are paying record low tax rates right now, especially the rich, so why complain? When we won the space race and WWII, taxes were veryy high. They were higher when we won the cold war too.

Tax cuts just cause more deficits. Bush did it twice, and Trump is at it too. It’s pitiful that the GOP only claim to care about debt when they are not in power. Otherwise, they are just fine with growing the government and cutting taxes. ( by the same logic, I’ve got a plan to get rich and retire early. My GOP style plan is to spend more money and earn less. Should work great, right? )

  12. @Marx:
and rich people don’t want their money to go to bureaucrats, that’s why they bribe politicians to give them huge tax reliefs.
Trump is different: No need to bribe him.

  17. @Effendi – Fair points. You left off ‘reality’ TV though.

  18. The NFL, Amazon, GE… many companies are paying ZERO taxes. Meanwhile your tax dollars are given to oil companies every year, and Trump’s tax breaks went mostly to the rich.

Maybe taxes aren’t the problem, it’s that the wrong people are paying them.

  21. Moving money from person to person is pointless, unless something is produced.

Do you like having roads? How about military? THAT’S what the taxes are for.

They fund public utilities, military, law, police, education and healthcare.

  24. During the 50s, the highest tax bracket had their top earnings taxed at 90%. This discouraged the amass of non-moving wealth and encouraged CEOs to invest in their companies. The high taxes for the wealthy allowed us to build the Interstate Highway System. We did well by those taxes.

Then Ronald Reagan, whose career high point was getting upstaged by a chimp, drastically cut taxes on the rich. We’ve been in decline since. Every single tax cut for the rich means roads aren’t getting repaired, bridges are not getting refurbished, disabled people lose housing and food assistance (making the homeless problem worse). All so billionaires can take more money out of circulation that they have no intent on ever spending. And the middle and lower class sees things getting bad for them but they think they’re gonna be billionaires one day (YOU AREN’T) so they let it happen and even vote for it to happen.

  25. At least somebody gets it.

Too bad this wasn’t here earlier so more people would see it.

If you take a look at the chart of our federal debt, you’d see that all started with Reganonmics too. Turns out you can’t tax cut your way to prosperity either.

  26. THAT IS moving the money from person to person. Or do all those workers, soldiers, officers, teachers and doctors work for free?
The state collects taxes, invests it – for example – in infrastructure. Workers get payed. Workers comsume. Workers consuming pay taxes and produce jobs for others manufacturing the consumed stuff.
Nowadays rich people hoard their money and pay no taxes for it. The money attracts more money and accumulatesbut produces no taxes but dries the flow of money in general. No tay money for the state, no money for investments, no money for the workers, no taxes…
Money needs to be moved or it is worthless.
Maybe it should become worthless when not moved enough. No more useless riches for the useless rich.

  29. > THAT IS moving the money from person to person

Nah, kiddo. Moving money might as well driving circles in a cash transport van for the heck of it. Or I give you $2, you give me another $2 and nothing changes.

Money needs to be USED, not MOVED.

Just moving it doesn’t do anything.
