Brilliant Examples of Redneck Engineering

Don’t you feel like we are taking things too seriously? I mean, if something stops working, there are many very questionable, yet bizarrely ingenious ways to go about it. Like these brilliant people did.

  1. Oh yeah, I sure want to be in a pool with an electrical cord running through it. NOT!

That said, I’ll note that many of these solutions are delightfully inventive.

  2. Thanks everyone else for NOT responding to the obvious comment bait that is the pool picture…

  3. These Darwin award contenders are actually Germans (or at least in Germany). Germany surely has better engineering solutions to the given problem than that.

  4. Ah yes, I see they are drinking Krombacher pils…..
They have a bad taste in beer, I guess thats why they come up with that stupid solution.

  5. Well – you did. And now I did as well.

  7. Every German is a natural born engineer – nice stereotype. Just google “New Berlin Airport”. And when it comes to us Germans always finding brillant solutions to our problems – google “World History 1933-45”.

  8. Twice

  9. Some of these are quite genius actually. Apart from the Kamikaze pool BBQ.

  10. I would like to see that truck make an emergency stop

  11. Nice ideas. Some poisonous and/or deadly though.

  12. what are the flip flops on the truck mudguard for?

  13. So the tires don’t throw up gravel. Windshield damage to passing cars.

  14. Redneck creativity beats “creatives” creativity any time

  15. Wow

  16. In the pool photo, the guys are in no danger. The power would just jump straight to the ground in the outlet, which would trip the breaker instantly. Worst case scenario, their food doesn’t finish cooking.

  17. It’s not that simple. To work like that, the water in the pool would need a seperate ground connection. As the pool is made of plastics, this is doubtful.
Furthermore, it is (usually) fresh water in a pool, not salt water, meaning a quite higher resistance. It may take quite a while for the ground protection relay, or worse, the fuse, to fall out. In the meantime, the entertainment for those guys would be ensured.
    Please don’t try this. Please.

  18. I appreciate the simplicity of the earthquake detection kit.
