The absurdity is illustrated by New York-based photographer Olivia Locher, who catalogs the crazy rules and regulations of each state in a playful photographic series “I Fought The Law“. 1. in Russia, drinking perfume is very popular

  2. In Georgia it’s illegal to bet ones soul against a fiddle made of gold… 🎻👻

  3. Michigan a woman isn’t allowed to cut her own hair without her husband’s permission.

  4. Primus – The Devil went down to Georgia.

  5. In New York it is illegal to use your charity to pay your political campaign.

  6. In New York it’s legal to kill a pedophile if the pedophile is willing to rat out Bill or the Royal Family.

  7. That’s why no one takes America fully seriously. Weirdo country.

  8. ooh.. that’s deep…

  9. Most, if not all countries have outdated laws that no one polices. Not really a priority to have them removed.

  10. Would be interesting to find out the history of why these weird laws were passed though. There’s an idea for a youtube channel for someone.

  11. That is some hideous chunky peasoup that woman is eating. Looks more like porridge. I doubt it would be possible to slurp that even in New Jersey.

  12. Margarine color was restricted long ago by the dairy and butter industry. Margarine was naturally white and manufacturers added yellow dye to it to make it look more like butter but dairy lobbied against it because margarine was cheaper.

Oddly, all cheese is naturally fairly white and dyed with annatto (achiote) to make it yellow which is the same seed used to make margarine look better. Achiote seeds can be found in Latin American markets but I’ve never seen them in US grocery stores.

  13. American food is 99% fake. Like America.

  14. lol, margarine originally was a French invention. Fake food for a fake population.

  15. In Florida, it is illegal to have intercourse with a porcupine.

  16. how is it fake when it is called margarine and not butter? eurobashing without a brain. fake brain.

  17. “how is it fake when it is called margarine and not butter?”

Margarine is made from vegetable oils, butter is made from animal oils. Not fake per se, but the marketing in the 70’s tried to make margarine to be like butter, thus “faking” it, much like the make-up industry in this era.

  18. WHY? I need to know the history behind these laws FFS!

  19. Like american politics. Crooks in the White House pretending to do make America great again. Watching TV, molesting women, twittering, making own family rich on taxpayer money.

  20. Of course the soap had to have a generous amount of hair on it.

  21. In Canada it is illegal for an individual to grow tobacco, but now we can grow Marijuana.

  22. C’mon, Ohio, I like what I see!

  23. @Anonymouse: But of course, these laws make a LOT of sense.

In England and Scotland, it is illegal to handle a salmon in suspicious circumstances
In England, it is illegal to be drunk and in charge of a horse
It is illegal to enter a taxi if you have the plague
In France, if you advertise a product that exceeds a certain amount of sugar, you have to include that you should eat 5 fruits or vegetables a day, too
In France, it is legal to marry a dead person
In Finland, it is illegal to play music in a cab.
It is illegal to hike naked in Switzerland.
If the sea freezes between Sweden and Denmark, a Dane can legally hit a Swedish person with a stick if they walk to Denmark over the ice.
It is illegal in Madrid to ask someone what time it is between 3:29 PM and 6:47 PM
In Belgium, girls must have written permission from their fathers to wear a mini skirt that is more than 4 inch above the knee.

  24. “In Finland, it is illegal to play music in a cab.” Not true, you just have to pay the copyrights feed, which is a certain amount in a month/year.

  25. Not now. Not very…:-)

  26. Last time I check, Kentucky still has a law that says everyone has to take a bath at least once a month. How gross do you have to be before the government steps in and makes you bathe? Apparently, you have to have a month’s worth of smegma before the government says, “Thats it! You’re nasty! Bathe, or else!” Hahaha

  27. Do stores in Vermont sell white margarine then.
