I was pointing out that the first post at the top was absolutely correct about the anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers causing this new spike in the Delta variant infections and that has once again stretched our medical resources dangerously thin and that the anonymous poster was simply a troll – probably vaccinated – just enjoying the attention from their comment.
It sickens me to see so many people believe that this virus is fake or harmless, vaccines are deadly, and masking is ineffective or detrimental to their health or freedom. As someone with four science degrees and a Ph.D., you may be already aware of that environment and its associated pathologies…to name a few. As much as I have taken the vaccine and i recommend that if there’s no good reason why you shouldn’t like religious / allergic etc, i do agree with some of the comments here that it is a human right to refuse medical treatment.
However, at the same time it’s not a human right to deliberately infect others with a disease. People have been jailed for that in the past, and i don’t see why this pandemic should be any different. No, this is a confabulation of a load of half truths. The history of this is as follows:
1) When the vaccines were produced, the pharma companies recommended 3-4 weeks gap between vaccines.
2) During brexit, here in the UK we were afraid that the EU would cut off our medicine supplies, so we did studies on what would happen if we gave everyone a first shot, to provide basic coverage, and reduce deaths and hospitalisations, and then give the second shot later.
3) During the studies, we found that actually if you extend the gap between vaccines from 3-4 weeks to about 8-9 weeks, the vaccines offer better and longer lasting protection.
4) The UK shared these scientific findings internationally, and many countries in the EU and other places like Canada etc, did their own studies and found the same.
5) Some countries like Isreal and USA chose not to extend the gap, either because they wanted to play it safe and go with the manufacturers recommendations, or because they wanted to get everyone double vaccinated asap, even if there’s not such long lasting protection.
6) As Isreal is one of the most vaccinated populations in the world they did studies showing that the effectiveness of the vaccine wanes over time.

However… masks dont work unless its a n95 mask which Noone has. Both logic and real world studies have shown this. Wearing a porous mask to keep out covid is like putting up a chain link fence to keep out mosquitos. Furthermore a recent study done by Louisville University compared the spread of covid in places that had strict, loose, and no mask mandates and found no difference in contagion rates. Wear a mask if it makes you feel safe but be aware that it doesn’t replace social distancing and basic cleanliness.
