NerdLord (Monday, 3 Dec 2012) ReplyThe real apocalypse is the growing stupidity of mankind. How else this crappy music video become so popular?
LogiC (Monday, 3 Dec 2012)
It has a political message. It satirizes and mocks the people that live in Gangnam, apparently wealthier people. So it has an artistic point, a political message, a silly dance people can do to pretend to be cultured, set to a song that apparently some people like. I would call it real art, even if I don't like it, or most people don't get the message. Compare "Rebecca Black- Friday" which is an abomination of music, good taste and of capitalism in the extreme.

i love you

I would agree, but living in a country where the Macarena became so popular even Al Gore was performing it on live TV, I simply don't feel I have the right to cast aspersions on another country's musical preferences... :)

A "crappy music video" went right over your head. (Growing stupidity of mankind, indeed.)
Fad (Thursday, 6 Dec 2012)
Yup, it's crappy. There's no point arguing with people to whom this video have greater political impact and message than some quality music that's very direct with it's message and cause that's older than TV. Also, how can something so commercial even criticize capitalism? I guess we will seeing psy in Gangam district soon.
Me (Monday, 3 Dec 2012) Reply21th??? That can't be right

Thaecc (Monday, 3 Dec 2012) ReplyWho calls Korea "Calm Morning" ? :O
Some Hipster Professor (Monday, 3 Dec 2012) ReplyA few months ago, I read an interesting longform article about South Korea and their rising personal debt. Apparently, the Gangham district is not only THE place to live for the wealthy, upwardly-mobile populace, but it's almost mandatory to live there if you want your precious snowflakes to have the best chance of getting into the best schools and living the future life of intelligent, high-wage earning luxury. As a consequence, the personal debt of the average Gangham lifestyler has become so bloated that there is now a very real threat that they will bring down the whole country through economic collapse. Then I heard/saw the Gangham Style song again and it all clicked. It's quite a clever, quasi-political send up of the self-obsessed culture which has pervaded our world. We should learn from this song.
Narf (Monday, 3 Dec 2012) ReplyKorea is known as "the land of the calm morning."
oh no (Monday, 3 Dec 2012) Replyoh my gosh. i watched that video. i have contributed to the end of the world!
timmy (Monday, 3 Dec 2012) ReplyDecember 21th is the best 21th.
Maybe (Monday, 3 Dec 2012) Reply...it just means the end of south korea. Which also means the end of 85% of computer game customers. And also the end of stupid World of Warcraft and any other game with that stupid cartoonish and/or eastern type art. And then developers would lean towards good and innovative ideas. Yes... one can only hope...
Derp (Monday, 3 Dec 2012)
put down the pipe, seriously.
Disregarding any apocalypse BS... (Wednesday, 5 Dec 2012)
So uh, you know Blizzard is an American company and that the greatest number of WoW subscribers are Chinese, right? Losing Korea woudln't kill them.
Of course, I wouldn't be sorry to see NCSoft go.
MadAsHell (Monday, 3 Dec 2012) ReplyYeah. Whatever.
Putz (Monday, 3 Dec 2012) Replybah... it beats another brooding millionaire lamenting capitalism through whiny off key indie ballads.
