What about Henry Gunther? Wikipedia says it was he who died last. If it's on wikipedia, it must be true. I mean wikipedia contains only unbiased information based only on trustworthy sources, created by some higher beings or something.

Not quite how it happened:
he and his company were looking for a machine gunner that had been firing on them as they crossed a canal. After searching two houses, George ignored advice to stay inside and stepped into the street. He was shot in the heart and killed at 10:58.
