LogiC (Friday, 12 Oct 2012) Reply4 more years of douche!
LogiC (Saturday, 13 Oct 2012)
uh, I'm not American, nor refer to either US Presidential candidate as a douche. Er also US Republicans confuse me, they keep going on about how socialist Obama is, yet policies like no abortion in any case, closing the borders and kicking immigrants out, making female contraception harder to get, making illegal gay marriage, making gays unable to serve in the army- aren't those all *extreme* socialist views?

@LogiC
That would be pretty confusing, were that not just the slanderous take on what Republicans believe. Very few extreme Republicans believe "abortion in no case." Largely, the take is "abortion only in the event of incest or rape." In fact, that's one of the quickest growing opinions on the subect.
Yes, Republicans want to close the borders and kick CRIMINAL ALIENS out. They don't want to kick out immigrants, as this is a nation of immigrants. They want to kick out the criminals. I don't know why that's controversial.
I've heard absolutely no Republican candidate talk about female contraception where it wasn't instigated by a Democrat. They don't want to make female contraception harder to get, they just don't want the government to be paying for it. Paying for someones contraception is not the purpose of the government. They can buy it on their own. It's neither expensive nor hard to obtain. No one wants to make it harder to get.
You're right on the gay marriage one. They don't approve of that. Life's hard like that I guess.
In my experience, Republicans have always been in favor of "don't ask, don't tell." What this says to me is not that Republicans don't want gays in the military, they just don't think it's a good idea to take your sexuality to work. Keep it at home, in your bedroom.
None of these positions have anything to do with government holding the means of production. None of these are socialist, as they have nothing to do with economics. Go learn what socialist means and then maybe you can speak about what is and is not socialist.

There have always been gays in the military. I served 40 years ago, there were gays then. As long as they were discrete, nobody cared. What the military doesn't want and doesn't need is a bunch of flaming queens prancing about like it's a gay pride festival in San Francisco.

And I agree with that completely. I don't have a problem with the repeal of DADT. I thought it was basically a stupid policy. In fact, I would have supported repealing it. I DO have a problem with a President simply deciding on his own that the law doesn't need to be enforced though. That's not his job or his prerogative.
