What winds me up the most about it is that these people don't get bored. The same tired, creaky old stereotypes and obvious urban myths, over and over again. All Americans are fat, all British people have bad teeth, the French are all cowards, derpy-sodding-derp. Boring.

Is it me, or is the nationalism ramped up these days? I keep thinking that Eat Liver used to have a different brand of comments, not quite so nation-hating. Am I off-base on this, or has the maturity level here dropped these days? (I probably have a bad case of nostalgia.

That's not European philosophy. Neither US-like. It's more a global phenomenon. It's what marketing and propaganda can do to you. Things like: You are not normal when you don't have a facebook account. You are not normal when you don't like to twitter. The list is long.

I dunno kind of makes me think of society as a whole where when there's a completely fine individual being made to feel out of place in a world of dysfunctional individuals. As a result of that they do what they can to ruin themselves in self destructive behavior in order to be accepted when it would only bring them about twenty years closer to death than they should be.
