Free & Fake American (Monday, 11 Jun 2012) ReplyAnd wars are easier to make than jobs. Make war, not jobs! Vote republican!
Great Barack Hope (Monday, 11 Jun 2012)
No, no - vote Democrat! We'll be out of Iraq by 2010 and Afghanistan by 2012. And Gitmo? Closed in 6 months. Right after we get the economy back on track... XD
Processed cheese food (Monday, 11 Jun 2012)
Woodrow Wilson got us into WW1. Franklin Roosevelt got us into WW2. Harry Truman got us into Korean War. Lyndon Johnson got us into VietNam War. Bill Clinton got us into Kosovo / Bosnia. ALL DEMOCRATS.
EUro (Monday, 11 Jun 2012)
But the Bushes got you into Iraq and W into Afghanistan. Aren't they republicans?
And if Roosevelt wouldn't have got you into WW2 you all would be eating sauerkraut and bratwurst these days.
Hellfish (Monday, 11 Jun 2012)
Libya. Troop increases in Afghanistan. All Obama, my liberal friends. And before you accuse me of being a Republican... those sorry SOBs start wars, too. When will the average American heed Eisenhower's warning and realize that all politicians start wars? They are simply extensions of a military industrial complex.
timmy (Monday, 11 Jun 2012)
Never mind that Obama has continued all the wars and made the likelihood of more wars even higher thanks to his incompetent foreign policy. Who cares about facts though, right? I can say "republicans are dumb!" so my friends will think I'm smart!
Your Ohhhhhh (Monday, 11 Jun 2012)
Did EUro miss the point of the argument? AGAIN?
guest (Tuesday, 12 Jun 2012)
It's always amusing watching you people ranting about what president screwed up what part of a country's policy. You all still think the government would let a single person decide which war to end and which to start? You and your voice in this funny two-party-system won't make any significant change, be it domestic or foreign policy.
EUro (Tuesday, 12 Jun 2012)
@guest
You got a point. Not the presidents screwed up. It the american voters who screw up... every bloody time.
And the american two-parts-system is not a real democracy. And don't forget those strange electors. And the „The winner takes it all“-principle is rediculous.
The american citizen will never get a government that represents his real needs. Except he is rich and can buy his own politicians.
Amerkin (Wednesday, 13 Jun 2012)
@EUro: But I DO eat sauerkraut and bratwurst these days. Well, not so much the sauerkraut...
Anonymous coward (Wednesday, 13 Jun 2012)
Dwight Eisenhower got America into Vietnam.
VietVet (Friday, 15 Jun 2012)
@Anonymous coward: Technically, tht's true. But it took Kennedy and Johnson to really screw things up.
fff (Monday, 11 Jun 2012) Replywell, MEDIA definitely makes you think so.
Too bad real life statistics are not on par with things on TV/net/magazines
Also army is definitely a good job if you are skilled in engeneering and stuff like that. E.g. billionaire Ross Perot made his first steps while serving in army and have been assisting POW's and otherwise being close to it since then

If you're saying, "The media is lying, jobs are plentiful," you're smoking something.
If you're saying, "Media and analysts saying the recession is over are idiots," then I will buy you an ale.
The Emperor (Monday, 11 Jun 2012) ReplySince mankind were single-cell life, there have been wars. As long as there is life, there will be wars. Live with it.
LandLord (Monday, 11 Jun 2012)
Oh yes, the great war of singlecells... I've read about it.
Pendajo (Monday, 11 Jun 2012)
The civil single-cell life war was a long-lasting one, I remember.

Cells wage war on your body all the time. There is more bacterial cells in/on your body than human cells. The immune system constantly fights them off. Bacteria attack other bacteria. Multicellular organisms eat bacteria, bigger things eat them. Survival is a constant battle
It is the nature of life to struggle and fight. Humans are unique on Earth, in that we can overcome this need for struggle, learn to coexist. It doesn't happen though, from fighting for cheaper prices, fighting other people in courts, fighting over disagreements, fighting wars over serious things and silly things. The nature of life is hard to escape.
Dog (Monday, 11 Jun 2012) ReplyThe war machine makes money and always will. Any US President who tries to stop it will suffer JFK's fate.

shut up!!!
J. Edgar Hoover (in a dress) (Tuesday, 12 Jun 2012)
No. He betrayed the mob and betrayed his own father's mob roots, therefore betrayed me, who protected the mob by insisting the mob didn't exist. He was doing his part to perpetuate the war machine, but that wasn't enough to keep him alive!
General Melee (Tuesday, 12 Jun 2012) ReplyAtten-hut!!
A sign-up!!
A shut-up!!
As you were.

holy crap, someone with brain on the internet!
it sucks so hard to see democrats and republicans fight about how stupid they both are. if your face is down on the ground, it matters shit wether it was a right or a left boot that kicked you there.
Some Random A (Tuesday, 12 Jun 2012)
Republican. Democrat. Same crap, different piles.
A politician is a politician. None of them can be trusted. You only need look to the way that they have mutated our system of government. Individual votes are largely irrelevant in elections, thanks to the electoral vote system, constant redrawing of voting districts, shady campaign finance, etc. The House and Congress vote on their own pay raises. "Hey guys, I think we're doing a pretty good job, we deserve a raise! All in favor?" With very few exceptions, none of them follow through on campaign promises. For me however, the icing on the cake is the multiple members of the current President's cabinet (there have been plenty in the past as well) that are known criminals. If I were to do the exact same thing as one of them, tax evasion to be precise in one particular case that comes to mind, I would have all kinds of legal trouble, up to and including possible jail time. High profile politicians, however, seem to be above these kinds of petty laws.

winterhog (Tuesday, 12 Jun 2012) ReplySince when wars are fought by naked wrestlers? Armies need a lot of weapons, ammo, food, clothes, fuel, vehicles, news coverage, propaganda, health care, psychological support and many other goods and services. Someone must provide them. And as far as I know, Army prefers (or sometimes is bound to choose) the domestic suppliers, so there no problem with imported goods.
Frozen Meat Stick (Tuesday, 12 Jun 2012) ReplyWow, what a bunch of mouth breathing tardlets here! Finger pointing over who did what, its all a scam people! Wars are kindled and fought for the profits of banks and corporations that supply BOTH SIDES!
