however, what is better? Money or power? if he really wanted to, Bill Gates (for example) could pretty much buy all of the military power he wanted and control the world from his desk. this is because he is a genius who applied his knowledge to making riciulous sums of money. Ghengis Kahn on the other hand, spent his years living in the god-awful cold and wilderness of mongolia, russia, etc. in a tent living with a bunch of sweaty, unwashed, smelly men (no women.. naturally). so again i ask, what is better? money or power? i choose money. i choose education

You know Bill Gates is a college dropout, right?
And, although he is a very rich man, he doesn't have the money to control the world from his desk. He could rent an army for a few months, but wouldn't get far. The US Army's budget for 1 year is over $100 billion. If you add in the other services, you're over half a trillion dollars per year. He's got around $50 billion on a good day.

usa should use half of it to help the poor people who lost their houses during these last years, and to invest in the ecology (yeah, unbelievable!! the americans live on the same planet like all the rest of the people!)

yet you crybabies always want and EXPECT the support from the U.S. when all you do is bitch about how we GET our money. you're not too good to beg for it though are you? quit crying and ASSERT yourself. BTW, i'm NOT a capitalist, nor anything RESEMBLING wealthy. i DON"T pay taxes and hate most American ways of life. I'm just tired of people saying how capitalist and greedy our country is in the same breath they're asking to reap rewards from it. only CHILDREN should expect someone to take care of them.

Actually from what I understand Bill Gates isn't just after the money so much, rather he is good at making deals, think "Games for Windows" and almost every new PC coming with Windows as examples. Those are good deals and in turn he makes boat loads of money. He didn't set out to make money.
Money is shallow, you can always get more so you always need more, there is no end.
Power is a prison, you can't get into power without being passionate about it but once you get into a position of power you can't give it up or you lose almost everything. Think what happens to retired politicians, they either advocate something else, write books or become a socialite all to avoid the boredom, they can't go back into politics. So they stay in for as long as they can.
Better off to do something you really want to do, something you like and is fulfilling.

drop out today and let people who can lead you.

Are people stupid? People who are successful and have dropped out are usually exclusive examples and also they have had a serious basis for success (err.. well, Bill Gates was rich and smarter than average co-student before he left university).
And I doubt Khengis didn't learn (not reading I mean, but practicing, developing tactics etc). You can't lead half of a World and be stupid.

A degree only guarantees that you're an educated idiot.

I'm not sure that "Rape, then pillage, then burn." counts as a very steep learning curve. The process improvement loop would have been interesting though.

Bill Gates left college because he started a business.
Look up his results and you'll see he was doing wery well there before he left. Also he had quite a sum on his hands to actually afford Harward of wherever he went.

Alexander the Great was not merely educated, but his teacher was also one of the most known scholars in entire history. And he was quite capable at conquering Asia. Pity he died so young. Many Roman Emperors (Most notably Gaius Iulius, Marcus Aurelius, Octavianus and Claudius) also had eduation roughly equivalent to modern university. A joke is rarely funny if it is based on simple error.
By the way, there is no direct link between education and success. People that are good at something (say, trade) usually manage to achieve greater and quicker success that people less skilled (obvious, isn't it). So they actually don't "waste time" on education because they usually can "catch up" with others later and still retain the bonus of education. People who say that they coulndn't have achieved success because they have wasted time on school more that often simply haven't had any idea for business in the first place.
