I agree with the taste point, but why order Diet Coke, considering what the rest of the order is? If he just stayed away from the fast food altogether he might not be in this position in the first place.

@Because ? ? ? - Nope. Contraty to popular belief, taking diet soda with a large fast food meal makes a lot of sense. Burgers and fries are mostly fat, protein and starch. Regular sodas have very high carbohydrate content. By the way, fast food is not detrimental to one's health (it's normal food, after all). It is the lack of exercise that follows.
